Shawnti Therrien
is an American creator, writer, illustrator, editor, and sculptor. Shawnti’s first published work as a professional writer and illustrator appeared in Am I Immortal, her own title, in 2003. Shortly after, she joined a networking group, the Comicbook Artists Guild (CAG) when she met Rusty Haller who soon introduced her to CAG's president, Keith Murphey. In October of 2006, she became the East Coast Vice President of that same organization, CAG. During that time, she contributed stories to all three issues of Guild Works Productions, Psychosis! which featured her character Meth. Those stories earned her a CAG Award for Best Storyteller in 2009. In that same year, Shawnti started the CAG Manga graphic novel, With Honor as the creative director for the upcoming anthology.
In 2010, Shawnti's professional relationship with GWP partner, Mark Mazz grew into her current position with indie publisher Atlas Unleashed. Once Mazz started his new venture, she joined as the VP of New Product Development. In this role she has fostered the development of new talent and projects, including their flagship suspense-fantasy title, Schizophrenia. One of those projects includes Static Lullaby the creation of Nathan Baker, and Shawnti Therrien.
Her dark personal vision of vampires, and their emotionally striking motives landed her a contract in 2009 with the comics publisher, Free Lunch Comics with the title, Am I Immortal. Wanting to market her own work, and be the sole creative voice for Am I Immortal Shawnti started her own publishing venture, Immortal Gothic in 2010. In addition to publishing print versions of her stories, Shawnti also produces a number of web-comics that can be found on her Immortal Gothic and Am I Immortal sites. The premiere web-comics strip, The Origin is the origin story of her character Cain from the Am I Immortal title. Another strip that is available is Rose Against the Moon illustrated and edited by Shawnti, and written by Nathan Baker.
Shawnti’s creative accomplishments extend beyond the boundaries of comics, including creating artifacts with a local sculptor, Richard Chalifour, in their joint venture Cast Shadows Studios. From her rural Connecticut home she works with her husband, Sean, to create music and independent films.
H2YK
is the joint name for two collaborating author/artists who enjoy doing parody work. Our current parody is 400 pages and counting. We enjoy the simple things in life – a baseball game on a hot summer day, breathing, video games, fending off attacks from rouge ninjas, and wondering if pirates are really just gypsies with boats.
Free Lunch Comics / Free Lunch Studios
Based out of the Free Lunch Studios production office in Granby, CT, Matt Ryan and Steve Kanaras put out some of the freshest and most satisfying independent comics, comic strips, graphic novels and games around as well as conduct lessons, workshops and a touring lecture series endorsed by Hartford Performs. Free Lunch Studios is a fun place to go, with special events like guest lectures, Mini-Comic Madness, King of Monster Mountain, Comic Book Shuffle, the 24 Hour Comic Challenge, weekly jam sessions and Granby’s own Open Studio Tour. If that was not enough, we have an extensive graphic novel reference library, plenty of work space and a 64 square foot dry erase board called "The Great White".
