Blindfold candy taste test -- contestants will be blindfolded and given different kinds of Japanese candy; they will then have to describe what it is – specific, not just Mochi, also what type (you CANNOT participate if you have ANY kind of food allergies). Super Mario’S J Dance Party—We are hosting 2 different dances during the con. The title should give you some clue as to the musical theme for this dance. A DJ hosted event that promises to be a dance like no other. Saturday 11pm at Pop’s Lodge A
CampAnime’s Dance- We’re still nailing down the final details but it’s going to be a themed dance and we may even have an instructor to show you a step or two. Friday 11pm in Pop’s Lodge A.
Kitchen princess -- Ok, so I may not be a real princess but I'll teach you how to make homemade mochi and maybe even pocky. Hosted by Matt DeRoma. Sunday 10am and 1pm at the Boat House.
Cosplay contest -- dress to impress to be the best-dressed cosplayer at the con. Points are given for originality, overall look, ability to stay in character and overall attitude. There will be smaller prizes for the best male and female costume as well as an overall grand prize. Please note that cosplayers spend a lot of time and effort on their costumes. Sci-Fi Movie scene dubbing contest -- take a not so classic Hollywood movie scene and redub it – all movies will be in the public domain and you’ll be asked to dub a 2-4-minute clip as it plays on the screen behind you. Video game horror stories--Yes, you just got shot in MW3 but then the guy has to go and talk smack about your mother...what's up with that. This is the panel to vent about all that stuff. Being bullied and how to cope-Have you every been discriminated against because of your blue hair. Lets face it, at one time or another we have all been subject to people who were less then kind to us. This will be a roundtable panel on how we as an Anime community are sometimes treated by people who really have no clue what Anime is all about. Matthew and his crew are going into production on a new film of teen bullying telling the story of a teen girl being bulled and would like to hear from you. Opening ceremony meet and greet ice breaker- Kind of like adding a friend on Facebook but you do it in person. Con goers will be paired up with someone at random and then they will have 5 minutes to find out as much info on each other as they can. Whoever can answer the most questions about their new friend will win some cool prizes. Free snacks will be provided, so come on by mingle and meet a new friend. Hosted by Matt DeRoma. Cosplay charity auction-I'll admit that this will be difficult and may not work out. We are asking people to donate their older cosplays for our charity auction. I know that this is asking a lot of our attendees. I know the work that goes into a costume and I hope you are able to part with it. The money collected will go to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation. Tea ceremony -- Japanese Tea Ceremony ~ 1 hr
The Japanese Tea Ceremony has been performed to standing room only crowds at most conventions. It is an interactive demonstration of a traditional Japanese Thin Tea Ceremony, including a discussion of its symbolism, history, and its roots in Zen. Li Izumi studied Tea Ceremony in Akita, Japan. Panel participants will be able to sample the Japanese Green Tea at the end of the demonstration, and a few participants will be able to act as ‘guests’ during the demonstration. Asian Brush painting -- 1 hr
An interactive demonstration of the brush techniques used in Calligraphy and Asian Brush Painting (in Japan, Sumi-e). We will relate painting to the meditation process and the history of these techniques, the roots of which originated in China. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to create their own brush painting. Hosted by the Comiku girls. Saturday at 7pm in the Barn’s Lower Level.
A Brief History of Japan: The Early Years -- 1 hr
This panel talks about the history of Japan to the medieval times, so that fans can have a better sense of the historical context that has helped shape some of their favorite anime and manga. Kimono & Yukata -- 1 hr
A demonstration of how to properly put on Kimono and Yukata, including how to tie the obi. In addition, we will discuss the differences between Kimono and Yukata and Japanese ideals of beauty. We will talk about how to make your own Yukata, including where to find patterns and fabric choices. Li Izumi studied how to properly put on a Kimono (a nearly hour long process) in Akita, Japan. Akiko Meigetsu and Li Zumi have sewn their own Yukata and Kimono. Hosted by the Comiku girls. Friday 9pm at the Yurt meeting Hut.
How to Draw – Chibi Style! -- 1 hr
We see it everywhere in manga and anime, from Fushigi Yuugi to Evangelian to Trigun to Dragon Half. In this panel we’ll talk about the different ways to do chibi (super-deformed) characters, including different proportion rules and what makes them so damn cute! Participants will be able to try their hand at the style. Hosted by the Comiku girls. Saturday 10am at the Barn Lower Level.

Commedia Mania--Commedia Mania is a Renaissance theater company which will be performing throughout Friday and Saturday, sit back, relax and watch the comedy ensue. Saturday 1pm and 7pm at Pop’s Lodge A.
Full Stage Show Friday Evening (1 Hour Show, with comedic warm up) performed by Commedia Mania who will put their unique spin on Japanese comedy. Performed by Commedia Mania. Friday at 7pm in Pop’s Lodge A.
Movement Work shops – Two sessions with 1.5 hour each session. This will encompass Commedia, Clown, and Japanese Movement Training. Open to all who wish to learn the basics of stage movement. Hosted by Commedia Mania. Friday 8pm and Saturday at 10am at Pop’s Lodge A.
Campanime yearbook photo’-- CampAnime will have a photographer on hand to take pics throughout the weekend. There will be certain times for certain photo ops i.e. we will do pictures on the lake with the rowboats, which will look awesome if you have a cosplay with a parasol. Time permitting, we will burn discs with all the pics to be handed out on Sunday. Matthew DeRoma Sr. will be on hand to take the pics...so smile. Lakeside photo’s will be Saturday between 4pm and 6:00 pm.
Cosplayers vs. Zombie calendar -- CampAnime is making a 2013 calendar and you could be featured in it. Our theme is going to be Zombies vs. cosplayers. The photos will be taken Saturday and the calendar will be ready on Sunday. Alex Squires our resident horror makeup artist will be on hand to make you're cute cosplay a bit scary, so if you ever wanted to be a Ms./Mr. March here's your chance.

Creative karaoke—you all know the words to your favorite songs but didn’t you ever want to go all Weird Al on a song and change the words? Well here’s your chance. Change them any way you like just make sure that the tune stays the same. This is an event that you will have plenty of time to prepare for so break out that pen, pick a song and start writing. Hetalia 101.- This roundtable discussion will discuss the wonderful world of Hetalia. If you've never heard of this Hetalia please stop by to see what all the fuss is about. If you're all ready addicted feel free to jump right into the conversation. This will be an open discussion and we welcome veterans to participate and convert as many attendees to your country as you can. Discussion will be followed by a Hetalia tug of war contest outside. Fan-Fic-- How to write it-- If you are writing fan-fic for your friends, you can pretty much do whatever you want. However, if you intend to put it on the internet for all the world to see, it helps to have the basic skills to tell your story ...and to NOT have your baby end up on a “Horrible Writers” Tumblr Blog or as an example of what NOT to do on TV Tropes.
This workshop will cover the basics of writing fiction as well as the basics of writing fan-fiction. It will teach young authors how to think outside the box in order to get the story they want while still keeping to canon, it will cover the most common mistakes in fan-fic, and we will even…yes….discuss what a Mary Sue is (the answer may surprise you!) Marker Basics-This one-hour class will show you how to get started using alcohol-based markers like Prismacolor, Copic, and Chartpak to color your artwork. Learn about how to use their transparency and their blending properties more effectively, plus a few neat tricks involving oil-based colored pencils. Bring your markers, some smooth Bristol paper, and some liner pens (like Sakura or Staedtler). Materials will be available to borrow for the class as well. Hosted by Jenny Bannock. Eric LaCore Studio photography studio session- Eric will be one of the press photographers for the con as he will also be setting up a con studio that will take portraits of anyone (dressed up or not). You can then download those pictures on their Fan page for free or pay a small fee to have them printed right away. They will be bringing their own GIANT white backdrop capable of photographing 1-20 people in each shot plus studio lighting consisting of 4 monolight flashes (and to over prepare they will bring reflectors, signage, etc etc). Some stop by and smile for the camera. Eric will be set up in the Lake Side Café all weekend and will also be roaming the camp looking for people to photograph.

Got Vocaloid - "Got Vocaloid? - As the titles says, it's a panel for all things Vocaloid three days of CampANIME! (Yosh! I got my first panel! *party party*) It's a time and place where both non-vocaloid and vocaloid fans can come and just have fun. You don't necessarily have to cosplay either, so don't worry about if your Kaito wig didn't come in time or something! The panels are all scheduled for random shenanigans throughout the three blocks! There will be a raffle held on Friday and drawn on Saturday, an improv panel, and, well, whatever other regular panels do..... Friday will mostly consist of an improv story telling, and other activities. Saturday will have all activities, and Sunday with have a singalong and such! Developing a Portfolio- Whether you are a hobbyist, student, or seasoned professional, your portfolio is where and how most of the world will view your work. Portfolios no longer just include binders with printed samples. Websites and blogs are just as, if not more essential to today's artists. These also change how the work is both viewed and presented. This is a workshop involving what things to include, and most importantly, what NOT to include as part of your presentation. This will include a discussion as to what art directors look for when viewing work from prospective new talent and my experiences approaching them. Hosted by Michael Lavoie.
Creature Concept Design- This a workshop demonstration for creating creatures and monsters. Designing creatures for 3-D animation or video games involves some unique challenges that go beyond making a successful illustration. Being bullied and how to cope-Have you every been discriminated against because of your blue hair. Lets face it, at one time or another we have all been subject to people who were less then kind to us. This will be a roundtable panel on how we as an Anime community are sometimes treated by people who really have no clue what Anime is all about. Matthew and his crew are going into production on a new film of teen bullying telling the story of a teen girl being bulled and would like to hear from you. Tea ceremony -- Japanese Tea Ceremony ~ 1 hr
The Japanese Tea Ceremony has been performed to standing room only crowds at most conventions. It is an interactive demonstration of a traditional Japanese Thin Tea Ceremony, including a discussion of its symbolism, history, and its roots in Zen. Li Izumi studied Tea Ceremony in Akita, Japan. Panel participants will be able to sample the Japanese Green Tea at the end of the demonstration, and a few participants will be able to act as ‘guests’ during the demonstration. Asian Brush painting -- 1 hr
An interactive demonstration of the brush techniques used in Calligraphy and Asian Brush Painting (in Japan, Sumi-e). We will relate painting to the meditation process and the history of these techniques, the roots of which originated in China. Kimono & Yukata -- 1 hr
A demonstration of how to properly put on Kimono and Yukata, including how to tie the obi. In addition, we will discuss the differences between Kimono and Yukata and Japanese ideals of beauty. We will talk about how to make your own Yukata, including where to find patterns and fabric choices. Li Izumi studied how to properly put on a Kimono (a nearly hour long process) in Akita, Japan. How to Draw – Chibi Style! -- 1 hr
We see it everywhere in manga and anime, from Fushigi Yuugi to Evangelian to Trigun to Dragon Half. Marker Basics-This one-hour class will show you how to get started using alcohol-based markers like Prismacolor, Copic, and Chartpak to color your artwork. Learn about how to use their transparency and their blending properties more effectively, plus a few neat tricks involving oil-based colored pencils. Bring your markers, some smooth Bristol paper, and some liner pens (like Sakura or Staedtler). Materials will be available to borrow for the class as well. Hosted by Jenny Bannock. Eric LaCore Studio photography studio session- Eric will be one of the press photographers for the con as he will also be setting up a con studio that will take portraits of anyone (dressed up or not). You can then download those pictures on their Fan page for free or pay a small fee to have them printed right away. They will be bringing their own GIANT white backdrop capable of photographing 1-20 people in each shot plus studio lighting consisting of 4 monolight flashes (and to over prepare they will bring reflectors, signage, etc etc). Some stop by and smile for the camera. Eric will be set up in the Lake Side Café all weekend and will also be roaming the camp looking for people to photograph.

Creating Heroes and Villains- hosted by Shawnti Therrien This workshop covers how to create enthralling heroes and villains utilizing basic story telling tools and sighting many well known works. The differences in illustration, tools of speech and speech
patterns, as well as motive and other attributes will be defined as a means to gain empathy from an audience. Other elements such as the anti-hero will be discussed, as well as the crossover from good to bad

Developing a Portfolio- Whether you are a hobbyist, student, or seasoned professional, your portfolio is where and how most of the world will view your work. Portfolios no longer just include binders with printed samples. Websites and blogs are just as, if not more essential to today's artists. These also change how the work is both viewed and presented. This is a workshop involving what things to include, and most importantly, what NOT to include as part of your presentation. Creature Concept Design- This a workshop demonstration for creating creatures and monsters. Designing creatures for 3-D animation or video games involves some unique challenges that go beyond making a successful illustration.
