Rain or shine!
- We have tons of space and lots of activities planned in case of bad weather, so don't fret!
- With 12 INDOOR conference rooms CampAnime is the place to be! Get ready for panels, contests, dancing, karaoke (with a live band!), workshops, anime showings and a whole lot more--regardless of rain!
- If the weather is as beautiful as we hope it'll be, we invite you to take advantage of the camp's outdoor facilities such as the Zipline, beautiful lake, archery range, wiffle ball field, BB gun range, basketball court, rock climbing wall and dodgeball court (Cosplay dodgeball, anyone? -_^). All outdoor activities will be supervised by YMCA staff members.
- Please note that the schedule of activities/panels/contest on the site is from 2012,the 2013 events will start posting at the end of December.
- With the purchase of a minor badge, accompanying parents attend free! We welcome you to come for the weekend but just remember that while the admission to the con will be free we do not provide free lodging or food. We offer a weekend lodging/food package for parents at a cost of $65 with purchase of a minor badge. This includes a 2 night stay and 6 meals, a $45 discount off the normal rate.
- CampAnime is a family-friendly affair. Staying overnight at the camp is limited to persons over eighteen years of age unless accompanied by an adult. If you are not staying with an adult you must stay in one of our "Den Mother" lodges. A supervised cabin with an adult that you must check in with at night.
- Our goal is to make everyone feel at home; the East con ops room will be a place for parents to unwind for a bit. It has a kitchen, a great view of the lake, and some comfy couches--so feel free to stop by, grab a cup of coffee, and watch the sunset! ^_^
- We advise you to leave jewelry and other valuables at home as the campground is rather large and if you drop something it will be extremely hard to find.
We learned many things from our first convention in 2012 and are working to make our second year even better!
One of the main things we learned from our first year was that we cannot run multiple panels all over the camp at the same time; to solve this problem for 2013, the panels will be consolidated between the Yurts and the dining hall in the morning and afternoon and then between the Boathouse and Pop's Lodge at night. This will address the issue of walking 15 minutes to the next panel as it will now be 3 minutes or less to each event. We also promise to improve the signs throughout the camp--I know they blew down during the tornado warning so we promise to get sturdier ones for 2013.
A fire juggler, tightrope walker and another surprise or two are just a few of the new things we have in store for 2013. The outdoor activities are also being expanded to provide more time for Archery, the Rock Wall, the BB Gun range in addition to all the other camp goodness.
Finally, we worked with the camp to reduce the cost of lodging. Last years rates of $150 per person for admission/2 nights lodging and 6 meals have been reduced by $40. So for this year it will be $110 for the full weekend package. What more could you ask for?
